The Purpose and Benefit of this guide:

The purpose of this guide is to help you navigate the Christmas buying season.

The benefit of this guide is that many of these products I’ve used in the past and truly believe in, some of them have been used by my staff writers or friends who have professed positive opinions about a product, prompting me to research it for inclusion.  You can trust in the items listed to not be a bunch of crap a company is paying me to promote.

Of the companies listed, only two are sponsors of the HuntFishTravel Podcast, Kryptek and Real Avid, I am extremely picky about who I accept as a sponsor and turn away companies on a regular basis.  My opinions are my own and for a product to make it into this buyer’s guide, rest assured they deserve to be there.

Some of the links listed in this guide are to affiliate programs I participate in, there is no added cost to you, if you purchase an item I may receive a small percentage of the sale but this does not affect you whatsoever, it simply helps me keep the lights on.

I personally own and love the new women’s hunting clothing line by Kryptek.  It’s affordable, versatile and readily at several locations. I definitely want to highlight the pants ($99.99) as they are long enough for me!

I’ve been living in the Highlander Bib Overalls ($299.99) and Jacket ($299.99), it’s kept me arm in cold Midwest temps.

Real Avid

The 1911 Micro Tool ($9.99) is a technical tool that can travel absolutely anywhere. It’s hard to believe it when you see how compact this 8-function tool is. Real Avid has designed this tool to fit on your keys. Not only does that allow you to field strip a 1911 anywhere but it also makes a statement about you and the firearms you love to shoot.

The Pro-AR15 Gun Tool ($49.99) features 35 dependable tools packaged in a rugged frame to keep your firearm reliable and accurate no matter where you are. Durable black-oxide coating for long-lasting performance.

SPOT Gen3 Satellite GPS Messenger

Personal Tracker

I’d planned on buying one of these before I went on my South Dakota trip, unfortunately I decided against it. I will not be making that mistake again!  I’ve been a fan of SPOT technology for many years.

SOS button alerts GEOS International Response Coordination Center of emergency situations and initiates your rescue. Help-assist button allows you to ask for help from your friends and family and send them your location. Check-in button lets your contacts know where you are and that you are OK. Track button allows your contacts to track your progress using Google Maps. Custom-message button sends a pre-programmed message with your GPS location. GPS uses satellites to communicate where cell phones can’t. Custom track rates refresh your location every 2, 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes. Vibration sensor tells Spot to send your location when you start and stop moving. With the enhanced tracking plan you can track your progress continuously.

Vortex 1000 Rangefinder

The Ranger 1000 gives gun hunters, target shooters and bowhunters the data to be accurate to 1,000 yards. Plus, it can be set to yards or meters. Fully multicoated lenses deliver optimal light transmission, while O-ring seals make them waterproof. It’s compact, ergonomic and lightweight, making it easy to pack or hang around your neck using the included lanyard.
